FOOTIE loudmouth Joey Barton has branded the former teammate he stubbed a
cigar out on a ‘gobs****’ and a ‘s***house’.
Burnley star Barton, 33, launched the stinging attack after ex-Manchester City
star Jamie Tandy blamed him for his spiral into addiction.
Barton famously extinguished his cigar on the player’s EYE during a City
Christmas party in 2004.
But the midfielder claimed Tandy, 31, was overweight and “lacked desire and
talent” long before he “used him as an ashtray”.
Tandy, from Wythenshawe, is now facing sentence after admitting assault
charges against his girlfriend during a hearing at Manchester Crown Court.
Tandy’s defence team told the court that he blamed his fight with Barton for
triggering his spiral into addiction.
Barrister Darren Prescott said Tandy’s career went into freefall and he was
eventually released from the Premier League giants and battled booze and
gambling addictions.
He said Tandy, who now works as a window cleaner, lost his home and twice
tried to commit suicide as he faced debts of up to £30,000.

But in an angry rant Barton told his three million Twitter followers that
Tandy had nobody to blame but himself.
In a series of tweets he said: “He was a gobs**** a long time before I went
anywhere near him. How many times is a judge going to buy his s***?
“Reason he never made it was he was simply overweight and lacked desire and
talent. Nobody to blame but himself.
“He forgets that he set my shirt on fire before I used him as an ashtray.
Doesn’t condone my reaction. But he was far from an innocent victim.
“How can you possibly hit women and blame an incident a decade earlier.
“Men who hit women are nothing but s***houses.
“At the end of the day. In this World you are responsible for your own
actions.”
Barton told his fans not to believe what they read in the papers and said he
will ‘clear it up’ when his autobiography is released next year.
He added: “You need to stop believing what you read in papers. Wait for my
autobiography next year. I’ll clear it up 4u”
Tandy has pleaded guilty to common assault and assault occasioning actual
bodily harm.
Judge Martin Rudland deferred Tandy’s sentencing until April 21, saying that
he must get help with his drinking and cooperate with probation services to
avoid an 18-month jail sentence.
