THE baffled blonde branded an “evil bitch” by the murder rampage Brit who
accused her of spurning him insisted last night: “I did nothing wrong.”
Family and friends of Monette Moio, 20, described her as “devastated” after
Elliot Rodger — son of Hunger Games film-maker Peter Rodger — massacred six
people in revenge for still being a virgin at 22.
The would-be actress’s father John — a Hollywood stuntman — said she had no
idea the painfully-shy misfit had been smitten with her at school since she
was only ten at the time.
The killer, who emailed his parents and psychiatrist a ” ranting against womankind, described Monette as “the first
girl I ever had a crush on”.
But her dad revealed Rodger could only have been 12. He said: “She hasn’t seen
him since school. It’s like she’s being implicated in this terrible tragedy
for something she hasn’t done and can’t remember.”
John, continued: “She was ten years old for God’s sake, she can barely
remember the guy. He’s a sociopath. She hasn’t seen him since school.
He also denied Rodger’s claims his daughter drove him to despair by teasing
him.
He said: “My daughter was not a bully, she’s one of the sweetest people you
could ever meet. She probably rejected his aggressive advances. If you want
to call that bullying then fine.”
John said his daughter remembered Rodger was a “strange kid” and they were
relieved he didn’t come after Monette.
He said: “He was weird then and he’s weird now. He had a secret crush on her,
but she was completely unaware of him. She had no idea. If you think about
it, he could have killed her, he could have come after her.”
And a pal of Monette’s also told of her shock last night.
The friend added: “She is totally devastated by this. She had no idea this boy
was obsessed with her.
“She never meant to be mean to him. She is a typical California girl, always
smiling. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.
“She’s got no idea why he hated her so much. She did nothing wrong.”
Her father John told The Sun last night: “We feel very bad for the victims.
It’s a horrible thing to go through and it’s a terrible club to belong to.
“Monette told me she doesn’t understand it and she doesn’t remember
anything. She was only 10-years-old. “He was 12-years-old and she was
10-years-old. He was older than her and she can hardly remember him. She
just remembered him as being an odd type of a person.
“It was very upsetting for her to read his manifesto with her name in it after
all these years. She’s very upset.”
Pals of his shattered daughter said she keeps asking: “Why did he hate me so
much?” One said: To think she has unknowingly upset this boy so much is just
awful.”
Seething Rodger launched his knife and gun rampage by slaughtering his three
student flatmates.
Cops found Cheng Yuan Hong, 20, George Chen, 19, and 20-year-old Weihan Wang
stabbed to death in the college town of Isla Vista, California. Rodger then
drove around firing indiscriminately from the window of his black BMW.
Students Veronika Weiss, 19, and Katie Cooper, 22, were shot dead before he
found Christopher Martinez, 20, at a delicatessen — and executed him too.
Thirteen people were wounded before the beast — armed with two Sig Sauer
P226s and a Glock .34 — killed himself in his car.
A friend who described Monette as “a lovely, sweet girl” said: “I have never
heard of anyone not liking her.”
In his 140-page rant, Rodger recalled his growing fury at never having been
kissed, saying: “The way I was treated by girls at this time, especially by
that evil bitch sparked an intense fear of girls.”
He also blasted Monette’s brother Ashton — one of the “popular” kids he
despised. Ashton had a bit-part role in The Hunger Games, the hit movie
which the killer’s dad, from Smarden, Kent, worked on.
The assistant director was in LA, where he now lives, when he read his son’s
horrifying email entitled My Twisted World. He was racing to Isla Vista with
ex-wife Li Chin, 53 — the killer’s mum — when they heard of the massacre on
the radio.
The parents, who previously alerted cops to a disturbing YouTube video
their son posted, were yesterday revealed to have hired a string of
companions for him — to fight his shyness with girls.
Their son, who had lived in the US since the age of five, especially enjoyed
the company of one — a 21-year-old counsellor called Sasha.
But he whined in his email: “She was only hired to talk to me. How pathetic is
that? It has the same effect as hiring a prostitute.”
Another mentor was Gavin Linderman, 25. But Rodger was enraged when he
realised girls at a restaurant found the companion more attractive than him.
Rodger also confided in a childhood pal that he wanted to rape women, it was
claimed last night. Cathleen Bloeser told how her son Philip was among the
30 people who received his sick manifesto.
She said Rodger had told Philip of his sick rape fantasies — and had invited
him to stay over the weekend. She added: “I have a feeling he would have
been shot as well.”
Pals of the murdered students were in tears at a church service for the dead.
Veronika’s dad Bob yesterday described his daughter as caring and “wonderful”.
Archaeology student Katie’s aunt Stacy Simmer said: “She was the apple of all
of our eyes.”
