Mother of Boston bombing suspects: It was a set-up

Zubeidat Tsarnaeva denies sons could have carried out attacks

THE mother of the Boston bombing suspects has sensationally claimed the pair
were victims of a “set-up”.

Zubeidat Tsarnaeva said it was “impossible” that her two sons –
Tamerlan, 26, and Dzhokhar, 19 – had masterminded the deadly twin blasts,
which killed three and injured over 170.

But she also suggested that FBI had been monitoring Tamerlan prior to the
marathon bombings because the US government was “scared” of him after he
developed an interest in Islam and “religious politics”.

Chechen terror suspect Dzhokhar was captured last night following a 22-hour
manhunt while Tamerlan was killed earlier that day in a fierce gun battle
with cops.

Speaking from Dagestan capital Makhachkala in southern Russia, Zubeidat said: “I
am 100 per cent sure that this is a setup.

“My two sons are really innocent and neither of them never, never talked about
what they said now.”

She added: “It’s impossible for both of them to do those things. If there
was anyone who would know, it would be me, the mother.”

Revealing how Tamerlan had got involved in “religious politics” five
years ago, Zubeidat said: “He was controlled by the FBI for five years.

“They knew what my son was doing, they knew what sites on the internet he
was going.

“They used to come and talk to me. They were telling me that he was a serious
leader and they were afraid of him. So how could this happen?

“They were controlling him every step of him. And now they are saying that
this was a terrorist act – never never is this true.”

She added: “The FBI were scared of my oldest son, they always told be that he
was a leader and talks about Islam a lot.”

Her comments come after the boy’s father also defended the pair, calling
Dzhokhar a “true angel” and claiming they had been “set up”.

Zubeidat said her sons did not keep secrets from her, adding: “If there is
anyone who would know it would be me.”

She also recalled how her sons would call her every day and say: “Mama, we
love you. Mama, how are you? We miss you.”
