TECH giant Apple is working on a top secret project – to start building cars.
A hiring spree has fuelled claims the firm plans to have an electric car on
the road by 2020.
The move is likely to see the company competing for customers with General
Motors and Tesla Motors.
Both of which are looking at a vehicle that can go 200 miles on a single
charge and will cost about £26,000.
The Apple car project already has 200 people working on it after a recruitment
drive to bring together experts in the fields of batteries and robotics.
The team is headed by former Ford boss Steve Zadesky and former chief
executive of Mercedes-Benz’s research and development Johann Jungwirth.
The firm refused to comment.
