Thug Shameless star £300k damages blow

Elliott Tittensor must pay man left with brain damage

SHAMELESS star Elliott Tittensor must pay up to £300,000 damages to a man
thrown off the bonnet of his BMW, a judge ruled yesterday.

Oliver Flint, then 18, was left brain-damaged and blind in one eye following a
row with Tittensor, who plays Carl Gallagher in the Channel 4 show.

The High Court in London heard Tittensor, 25, had twice refused to let Mr
Flint borrow his mobile phone after the battery on his own ran out.

Tittensor drove at him as he left a McDonald’s in Kentish Town, North London,
in 2010.

The actor claimed he acted in self-defence after “aggressive” Mr Flint had
climbed up and bashed on the windscreen.

Tittensor, of Heywood, Lancs, was fined £750 at the time for driving without
insurance.

He had been with then-girlfriend Kaya Scodelario, 22, who starred in Channel
4’s Skins.

The actor wept as Kaya spoke as a character witness for him via a video link
from Australia, where she is filming Pirates of the Caribbean 5.

Mr Flint, of Highgate, North London, sued for more than £300,000 damages.

Mr Justice Edis said: “The decision to which I have come is that Mr Flint
succeeds in his claim against Mr Tittensor for battery.”

The amount has yet to be finalised, and the judge will give detailed reasons
for his decision later.
