Anelka ‘quenelle’ row comic banned from entering Britain

A CONTROVERSIAL French comedian at the centre of the Nicolas Anelka
anti-Semitism row has been banned from entering the UK, the Home Office
said.

Dieudonné M’bala M’bala is the creator of “quenelle” salute. He claims it is a
gesture of solidarity but others claim it is anti-Semitic.

Dieudonné announced plans to visit London to support his pal Anelka, who faces
an FA ban for his quenelle goal celebration on the pitch in December.

But the government has said he will be refused entry as a threat to “public
security”.

A Home Office spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that Mr Dieudonne is subject
to an exclusion order.

“The Home Secretary will seek to exclude an individual from the UK if she
considers that there are public policy or public security reasons to do so.”

Dieudonné, who has convictions for inciting racial hatred, has been banned
from French TV and had some of his gigs blocked by authorities.

The Football Association charged Anelka over his use of the quenelle after
scoring against West Ham on December 28, and he faces a minimum five-match
ban if found guilty.

Anelka has denied the misconduct charge and requested a personal hearing.
