TROUBLED George Michael earned more than £4million last year despite not working as he continues his rehab.
The reclusive pop superstar is believed to be battling drug problems at the world’s most expensive clinic.
But it has not stopped him making a small fortune from royalties and strong album sales.
Former Wham! singer George, 52, who has barely been seen in public all year, is the sole shareholder of Nobby’s Hobbies Holdings Ltd.
The Sun can reveal the company had assets of £5.9million at the end of December last year.
This included £400,000 in cash and nearly £5.5million in money owed.
The company also had bills totalling £1.7million, leaving it £4.1million in profit.
Last night a music industry source revealed: “It’s quite incredible George is still making millions even though he has not been working.
“We know he’s desperate to get back to work by next year, especially because it will be the 30th anniversary of Wham! splitting up and George going solo.
“But the absolute priority for him and his team is his health as there’s clearly no rush about him getting back to work.”
George’s last album Symphonica, released in March 2014, sold 100,000 copies. His last performance was on tour in October 2012.
The star has a long history battling drugs. In March last year he said he had quit and not used cannabis for 18 months after previously smoking 25 joints a day.
He said: “I decided to change my life and I haven’t touched it.” In June we revealed friends had told George: “Seek help or die.”
George’s close pal Jake Panayiotou told The Sun: “He’s not well. I can’t say any more but we’re just wishing for him to get better.”
A spokeswoman for the star said: “We never comment on personal matters.”
