ASHYA King’s parents claim they fled abroad after being told NHS cancer
treatment would leave him disabled.
Brett and Naghmeh King said doctors told them he would have “special needs”
after conventional radiotherapy.
They say they were threatened
with having him taken away from them if they questioned the decision.
The couple were arrested after taking the poorly five-year-old from
Southampton General Hospital to Spain following an op to remove a brain
tumour.
They planned to sell their holiday home to fund pioneering proton therapy in
Prague.
Brett, 51, and Naghmeh, 45, were held as Ashya
was under armed guard in hospital.
The Jehovah’s Witness couple said he “cried like a wounded animal through the
night”.
A judge gave permission for them to take him to the Czech capital for proton
therapy, paid
for by the NHS.
It has already made him feel a bit better.
