IT seems the rumours are true — McFly and Busted have joined forces to form
boyband supergroup McBusted.
Members of the two bands broke the news at a press conference today and
announced they are heading out on tour together next year.
Busted frontman Charlie Simpson won’t be part of the six-piece group but
guitarist James Bourne and bass player Matt Willis will be.
All of McFly’s members – vocalists/guitarists Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones,
bassist Dougie Poynter and drummer Harry Judd – will take part.
McBusted already have more than over 60,000 followers on Twitter. In a recent
post, the new band said: “Huge announcement … McFly & Busted are
coming together for a tour in April 2014.”
Tom then tweeted: “#McBusted news! McBusted will be performing on @BBCCiN on
Friday! Excited?!”
Matt followed up later with: “So pleased! I don’t have to keep a scret
anymore! Been eating me up! McBusted are here…”
A visibly excited Emma Willis, Matt’s wife, chaired the press conference.
The bands had teamed up previously at London’s Royal Albert Hall, when they
performed on stage together for McFly’s 10th Anniversary show.
They belted out classic Busted hits Year 3000 and Air Hostess, before playing
McFly’s Shine A Light.
McBusted will kick off their live dates on Friday April 18, 2014, at Glasgow’s
SSE Hydro, the first of 11 live shows.
McFly frontman Tom said he was overjoyed by the reaction to their
collaboration. He said: “We had an amazing time performing with Busted on
stage.
“It was so much fun. We didn’t expect the kind of reaction we got.”
