GREAT British Bake Off host Mary Berry was left shocked after boozed-up soap
star Danny Dyer licked her ear during an awards show.
The EastEnders actor, 37, had joined the rest of the show’s cast on stage at
the TV Choice Awards to collect the Best Soap gong — presented by
79-year-old Mary.
Tipsy Danny then stuck his tongue in the cake cook’s lug. An onlooker at the
bash said: “Danny came from the other side to the rest of the cast and
surprised Mary.
“He leant right over her and licked her ear. She tried to keep her composure
but was clearly very shocked.”
After the bizarre exchange, an EastEnders staffer spent the rest of the night
shadowing the actor in an attempt to keep him out of trouble.
A show source said: “She even followed him into the toilet, they were so
worried about the state he was in.
“But it’s for his own sake and to protect him because he’s actually one of the
most popular members of the staff. The bosses love him.”
Danny, Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in the soap, earlier won the Best Actor
gong at the bash in the Hilton in Park Lane, central London.
Following the licking episode, he was eventually convinced to go home, but
the EastEnders after-party continued.
Insiders said Shane Richie and Adam Woodyatt — who play Alfie Moon and Ian
Beale — stayed until the very end.
The source added: “It’s not often they get to let their hair down.”
