A COUPLE who claimed they were “too fat to work” are on the outs after a
lie detector test on The Jeremy Kyle Show said they’ve cheated on each
other.
Stephen and Michelle Beer came to fame on the Channel 4 documentary Too Fat to
Work and sparked outrage with a £3,000
wedding funded by benefits. In December they celebrated
their first anniversary with a bargain bucket from KFC.
But now Michelle, 43, has moved out of the couple’s home in Plymouth, Devon,
after a series of rows over her alleged infidelity.
She and Stephen, 45, agreed to appear on ITV’s Jeremy Kyle Show after Michelle
became suspicious Stephen was having an affair with a woman he was friends
with on Facebook.
Six-times-married Stephen, who divorced
his fifth wife after she caught him sleeping with Michelle, joked about
going on the programme to prove he wasn’t cheating — and then the show got
in touch with him.
Jeremy told The Mirror: “The woman concerned was getting fed up with getting
texts from Michelle and had called them.”
But when the couple appeared on the show, the polygraph indicated they had
both been unfaithful, with Michelle failing on three out of three tests and
Stephen failing on two.
Both failed when asked if they’d had sexual contact with anyone other than
their spouse or sexual intercourse with anyone other than their spouse.
Michelle also failed when asked if she had kissed anyone passionately other
than her husband.
Stephen said no when asked if he’d had sexual contact with his Facebook
friend, and passed.
Both Stephen and Michelle insist they haven’t cheated. Michelle said she
trusts Stephen — but that Stephen doesn’t trust her.

She said: “I haven’t got a clue what’s happened. I think the lie detector’s
wrong. It’s 100 per cent wrong.
“We’ve been arguing and it got so bad that I went to stay with a friend. I
trust him but he’s never trusted me. I keep telling him I’ve not cheated but
he keeps going on. It’s so frustrating.”
Stephen said: “When Jeremy read out the results I was gutted.
“I love Michelle to bits. I was so upset about it I asked for a counsellor.
“I admit I am very jealous. But when you’ve got Jeremy Kyle saying the lie
detector test is 99 per cent right, what do you do?
Michelle said she’s been left wondering if she’s still in love with Stephen.
“He’s been really horrible. I couldn’t take it anymore. It’s been so
difficult. He’s so jealous, he doesn’t believe me. I’ve told him it’s all
rubbish. I haven’t cheated.
“I’m trying to move on but it’s hard. We’ve got to take it day by day at the
moment.”
Stephen, meanwhile, has been left feeling “empty”.
He said: “Not having Michelle here has been really hard. We’re together 24
hours a day. There’s an emptiness. She’s like my phone, you don’t go
anywhere without your phone. She’s in my heart and in my thoughts.
“If the lie detector test is wrong, then the show has a lot to answer for.”
