FIFTY migrants stormed a cross-Channel ferry in France last night – hours
after Jeremy Corbyn told refugees he’d welcome them to Britain.
A mob of 400 cut through a fence after a demo near the Calais terminal and 50
of them managed to climb aboard the waiting ship.
In astonishing scenes, the crew of P&O ferry Spirit of Britain fired water
hydrants to keep the chanting throng at bay until police restored order.
Officers were quickly on the scene and closed the port leaving hundreds of
travellers stranded.
Pictures tweeted from the area showed a group of migrants at the front of the
ferry. Worried relatives of those thought to be on board also took to social
media to ask if passengers were safe.
The port was sealed off as workmen were called in to fix the gaping hole.
Last night 24 migrants were arrested, plus 11 people believed to be from the
UK-based activists No Borders, according to reports.

mobbed by refugees wanting selfies at migrant camp in France
Trouble flared after a march of 2,000 people from the New Jungle camp at
Calais toward the port to protest at not being allowed into Britain.
Chanting ‘’UK, UK, we want to go UK’’ a group – some wearing masks and
carrying sticks – broke away and charged along a side street.
Police were caught off guard and were too slow to head them off and many
boarded the ferry – which had just arrived from Dover – before order was
restored.
Last night ferry passengers faced delays as border cops and security chiefs
scoured the vessel for would-be stowaways.
A port official said the ferry had just arrived from Dover and was
disembarking passengers and cars when it was stormed.
Calais mayor Natacha Bouchart said:’’The migrants veered from the agreed route
and stormed into the port by cutting through a fence.
‘’About 50 managed to get onboard. I will be demanding that the government
steps up its help towards the port of Calais and its citizens.’’
UK activists No Borders last night denied any of its members had been
arrested.
A statement from the Port of Dover said Calais was experiencing “migrant
activity” causing disruption to services.
P&O Ferries Updates tweeted: “Our vessels are delayed until such time as
given the all-clear to load.”

…earlier Corbyn called for them to be let in
LABOUR leader Jeremy Corbyn yesterday toured a migrant camp — and called for
them to be let into Britain.
Refugees from Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan mobbed him as he waded through mud
near Dunkirk.
Mr Corbyn said Britain should take in more than the 25,000 refugees already
earmarked.
He said: “We’re human beings and we have to reach out. I don’t think the
weight of public opinion is against these people coming to Britain.”
The Grande-Synthe camp holds about 2,500 migrants. And many held smartphones
as they pressed in on Mr Corbyn, mistaking him for our Prime Minister.
