A BOOB-JOB doc who is accused of carrying out hundreds of unnecessary partial
mastectomies has been charged.
Ian Paterson, 58, now faces 21 counts of causing grievous bodily harm in
relation to 11 men and women who went under his knife, Birmingham
Magistrates Court heard.
Paterson, who worked at Solihull Hospital, Little Aston Spire and Solihull
Spire Hospitals, is also accused of carrying out avoidable operations.
The operations, which were not approved by the NHS, included leaving breast
tissue behind solely for cosmetic reasons despite knowing it would increase
chances of cancer returning.
While working with private patients at The Spire Hospital, Paterson told
clients that benign and harmless lumps needed to be removed.
