THE actor who played a rejected love-sick character in Christmas romcom Love
Actually finally admits that his character was in fact, a stalker.
Andrew Lincoln’s character was Mark, a guy who filmed his best friend’s
wedding and zoomed in on the bride to a level that is quite frankly,
intrusive and impolite.
Mark later appeared at the newlywed’s house with placards declaring his
eternal love for his friend’s wife.
If your best friend asked for ‘man advice’ and described a similar scene it is
likely you would urge them to call the police – not give the guy a smooch as
Juliet, Keira Knightley, did.
And Mr Lincoln agrees.
He told The Wrap: “He is a stalker.
“That was my question to Richard Curtis, ‘Do you not think we’re sort of
borderline stalker territory here?’
“And he said, ‘No, no. Not with you playing it, darling. You’ll be
alright.'”
Mr Lincoln continued: “I quite like the fact that I’m in one of the most
romantic movies playing the only guy who doesn’t get the girl.
“It’s like I did this film called Moonshot.
“Everybody else got to the moon and I was the only guy who didn’t go.
“So I think it’s a running thing in my characters.
“I’m the guy who doesn’t get the girl or go to the moon.”

As the film is likely to get an airing over Valentine’s Day a few eyebrows are
being raised about how the film could affect women’s perception of men.
A researcher at the University of Michigan found that Love Actually, and other
similar romcoms, may make women more tolerant of what is actually stalker
behaviour.
Mr Lincoln owned up about his character’s actions after the research was
released.
