Surprise! Dad of NINETEEN jailed after being caught with a Kinder Egg full of heroin and crack

A CONVICTED drug dealer and dad of 19 was caught with a Kinder Egg stuffed
full of crack cocaine and heroin.

Police were initially called to deal with damage caused at a club by Donald
Ewers, but after his arrest found the surprise contained within a Kinder Egg
case.

The distinctive yellow plastic capsule comes inside the hollow chocolate egg
and usually contains small toy parts for children to put together.

After the drugs were found Ewers pleaded guilty to possession with intent to
supply and is now behind bars for three years and four months.

It is the second time the painter and decorator has been locked up for drug
dealing – he had a similar conviction in 2009 when he received a 42 months
sentence.

The 50-year-old, who has fathered 19 children, had filled the case with 40
wraps of drugs to sell to friends when he was arrested at the All Nations
Club in Gloucester on March 30.

Each wrap was analysed and 25 were found to contain a total of 2.3grams of
crack cocaine. Fifteen wraps contained a total of 1.14g of heroin.

Prosecutor Janine Wood told the Gloucester Crown Court the estimated value of
all the drugs was between £440 and £590.

Ewers, of Cromwell Street, Gloucester, told police he was a very heavy user of
drugs himself. He also told them he was earning £1,200 a week as a painter
and decorator.

He admitted the charges on the basis that he was only supplying to friends,
but Judge Michael Cullum said he would not accept that and would only treat
Ewers as a commercial supplier.

Mrs Wood said Ewers had eighteen previous convictions for a total of 41
offences including drug supply in 2009.

Joe Maloney, defending, said “He is realistic about his situation here at
court today. He understands that his previous conviction for the same thing
is an aggravating feature.

“He comes from a very well respected, big family. He has got nineteen
children!”

Jailing Ewers, Judge Cullum said: “Be warned that if you commit this type
of offence for a third time in the future you will be liable to a sentence
of seven years minimum.”
