IF realising your dreams was as easy as wishing for something you’d think we’d
all be millionaires, but one woman claims just that.
Emma Tynan, 32, is a devotee of self-help book The Secret, which was written
by Rhonda Byrne and has sold over 19 MILLION copies and been translated into
a whopping 46 languages since it hit stores ten years ago.
In a nutshell, it claims the universe works by the law of attraction.
That means thinking positively can have a massive impact on your life, as can
spending time considering what you really want and letting the universe
know.
This is called ‘manifesting’ and basically suggests if you want something
enough, think about it a lot and you’ll get it.
It might sound too good to be true, but according to ex fashion stylist Emma
it really works.
She worked for the likes of Burberry, but she started to feel unhappy with her life.
She was boozing too much, eating a bad diet and spending time with men who
weren’t right for her.
Eventually Emma quit her job and found herself sleeping on an air bed at her
friend’s house.
After taking time to think about what she wanted in life she became interested
in manifesting.
“[The books] talked about everything as energy – if you set out an intention
for what you want and give out that energy, you will bring it in,” she told
The Daily Mail.
“I manifested my wish for a husband, getting up at 6.30am every morning and
meditating for ten minutes, wishing and asking.”
Emma is keen to point out it’s about more than just hoping for something
though – you have to take steps to achieve your dream.
In her case, this meant getting a facial, freshening up her wardrobe and
joining dating sites.

She stated she wanted to meet someone “spiritual” on her dating profile and
one of the two men who were suggested was her now-husband Andrew.
The pair had actually been to the same yoga class for a year but hadn’t
spoken, and Emma is adamant they never would have if it hadn’t been for the
steps she took.
Nowadays Emma regularly manifests things and teaches others to do the same.
“Some days I’ll manifest getting a free coffee,” she said.
“I’ll start talking to someone in Pret and they’ll happen to give me one.
“You can have anything you want. You just have to have a plan and have faith.”
Emma is far from the only person who’s a devotee of author Rhonda Byrne.
In 2007 she was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 people who shape the world
and The Secret has also been made into a movie.
