THE final resting place of evil child abuser Jimmy Savile has become a tourist
attraction for sick day trippers.
The paedophile TV personality was buried in a graveyard in Scarborough, where
Savile once had a seaside apartment.
A local taxi driver spoke of his confusion after tourists kept asking him to
take them to the graveyard where Savile was buried.

Jimmy Savile review into BBC is a whitewash that will fail his victims
He said: “They turn up on the train and get in my cab and say: ‘Can we go to
see Jimmy Savile?”
“It’s all sorts of different people. I say I can take them there, but there’s
not much to see because his headstone was smashed up and taken away to hide
where he is.
“But they do seem to like to go to the cemetery. I show them where he is in
Woodlands Cemetery then wait nearby.
“Usually, about 15 minutes later they jump back in and often ask to go
straight back to the station.
“I don’t know whether they’re victims of Savile, weird fans, or crackpots. I
don’t like to ask.”
Sick Jimmy Savile, who had more than 450 abuse complaints lodged against him,
asked to be buried in a gold coffin before his death aged 84 in October
2011.
He had another unusual burial request as well – he asked to be buried angled
at 45 degrees, claiming he wanted to always see the sea.
The once-loved star also ordered his casket to be encased in concrete, to
ensure that grave robbers wouldn’t be able to get to his trademark
jewellery.
His headstone, which once bore the chilling words: “It was good while it
lasted,” was smashed up and sent to landfill just three weeks after it was
put up to hide his whereabouts.
But the relatives of loved ones buried in the same area as the abusive monster
are campaigning to have him moved or cremated.
However, even though members of Savile’s family support this idea, it is
unlikely to ever happen because of the cost.
The concrete casing surrounding Savile’s coffin means that the costs of moving
his remains would total around £20,000, which lawyers claim would be better
spent as compensation for his victims.
Scarborough Borough Councillor Colin Haddington said: “Jimmy Savile is still a
stain on Scarborough.
“People won’t forget what’s happened and they can’t forget he is lying next to
their loved ones.
“Hopefully, with time, people will be able to accept it a bit better. I’ve
campaigned to get Savile’s body exhumed after the grandfather of a little
child that’s in the same cemetery contacted me and said how much he wanted
him out.
“Unfortunately Savile’s solicitors would have to give their permission, his
family have to agree, the council has to approve it as well as the church.
And with the huge cost on top it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen.”
