THE ‘soft’ prison where Adam Johnson has started serving his time has been
given rave reviews by former inmates.
The disgraced
footballer was handed a six year sentence in March for child sex offences
but has been kept away from tougher prisons because of dangerous inmates.
He is now behind bars at HMP Moorland near Doncaster, South Yorks which a
former inmate described as a “lovely place”.
The ex-con, writing on Google under the name Joan of Arc, continued: “Own room
with PlayStation and bog. Three decent meals a day. Only downside is no
women – and it is full of nonces. Apart from that, recommended.”
Another, called Stan, wrote: “Spent two years here a while back. Was a nice
break from the wife TBH. Got some decent kip and decent bit of grub and even
the odd pint and smoke! LOL.

“The neighbours can be a bit noisy and you don’t get out much but there’s a
decent bunch of cons and the screws aren’t too bad. Enjoy.”
One-time resident ‘Peter’ said: “Thank you Moorland for looking after me.
Whilst being with you I was really ill but was looked after by some really
good officers so may I just take this moment to say thank you.”
HMP Moorland is classified as a Category C prison and contains a pool room,
well-equipped gym, sports hall and an all-weather football pitch.
The former
England and Sunderland star has launched an appeal and his supporters
have been heartened this week after footballer Ched Evan’s rape conviction
was quashed – although he does face a retrial.
