Body found off Dorset coast is confirmed as junior doctor who disappeared two months ago during her shift

POLICE have confirmed that a body discovered of the Dorset coast is junior
doctor Rose Polge who disappeared two months ago.

The 25-year-old was last seen on February 12 after she appaently left her
shift at Torbay Hospital in Devon suffering from stress.

Cops recovered the body from the sea more than 50 miles away from where a
hoody believed to belong to Rose was found at Ansteys Cove, Devon.

Police made the discovery on April 1 off Portland Headland in Dorset.

Authorities confirmed they scaled back the search for the young doctor two
weeks after she was last seen two months ago.

Her car was found the evening she vanished in the car park at Ansteys Cove and
a major search and rescue operatio nwas launched.

Rose’s family’s fears heightend after a hoody believed to belong to her was
found on the rocks by volunteers.

A huge search involving police, coastguards, RNLI and Dartmoor search and
rescue teams failed to find the young medic and was abandoned

Devon and Cornwall Police said:”Following formal identification, officers have
confirmed the woman’s body recovered from the Dorset coast on Friday 1 April
is that of Rose Polge.”

After the discovery of the body earlier this month Rose’s family released as
statement saying: “We would like to thank everyone for their help, hope and
kind words.

“The support we have received from family and friends has been much
appreciated and clearly Rose is loved far and wide.”

The Department of Health has previously said: “Our thoughts are with Dr
Polge’s family and friends at an extremely difficult time.”

Her disappearance sparked a huge search, with 100 volunteers joining her
mother Heather, GP father Mark and boyfriend Alasdair to find Rose.

Rose and Alasdair met while studying together at the University of Southampton
and had been an item for more than three years.
