GREAT British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain revealed yesterday she is
making the Queen’s 90th birthday cake.
Nadiya, 31, will present her orange drizzle offering to Her Majesty at Windsor
Castle on Thursday — and admits she is feeling the heat.
She said: “I’m too nervous to even look at the oven right now. I should be
practising. It’s super-exciting.”
Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women, she told how she thought her agent was lying
when she was first told of the Royal approach. She said: “I had the option,
I could have said ‘No’. But I can’t say ‘No’ to the Queen, can I?
“I did the worst thing, I Googled all her cakes throughout her years. Now I
feel even worse because chocolate fingers won’t do.”

She said she wanted to bake “something different” and revealed: “I’m doing an
orange drizzle with orange curd and orange butter cream, then fondant.”
The mum of three, of Milton Keynes, Bucks, who won the hit BBC show last year,
added: “I told the kids and the boys were great. They were like ‘Yay!’ So I
said ‘Let’s keep it a secret’. I told my daughter ‘I’m making a cake for the
Queen’ and she said ‘Mary Berry? You’ve made loads of cakes for her’.”
Asked to comment on Nadiya’s cake plans, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said:
“Mmmmm.”
The Queen’s birthday is on Thursday but she will celebrate the milestone
officially with the nation on June 10.
