A BIZARRE new dating trend encourages potential couples to smell each other’s
armpits before finding love.
When it comes to dating, the underarm area definitely isn’t one of the
physical characteristics that tends to be scrutinised.
Despite this, an evening dubbed Romancing the Armpit has emerged as the
world’s first ever underarm-sniffing dating event.
Hopeful singletons will become the scent-er of attention after rocking up at
the London Bridge venue on April 27.
Upon arrival, they’ll be handed a “cocktail of perspiration” to sip on while
listening to a lecture on the power of smell.
Next, they’ll be able to participate in a “sniffing ritual” where they’ll get
up close and personal with the other guests.
The company behind the concept, Bompas & Parr believe that finding a
person’s scent attractive can be a necessary part of dating.
They explain: “Pheromone dating of the past has given insight into your
genetic compatibility…
“We know that pheromones – the airborne compounds secreted in our sweat – play
a role in sexual attraction.”
Even though being drawn to a scent can create a spark between couples, experts
are aware it’s not the be all and end all.
Event organisers confess: “What’s the point in matching genetically with an
armpit that belongs to an aesthetically intolerable face or nauseating
character.”

Could it be love at first sniff? People certainly seem to think so as tickets
for the event are currently sold out.
Luckily, armpit enthusiasts will get one more shot at attending, as are set to go on sale on April 21 at midday.
