Crowd lift 12-ton bus off run-over unicyclist

Victim recovering in hospital after being freed from beneath double decker

MORE than 50 members of the public lifted a 12-tonne double decker bus off a
trapped UNICYCLIST.

The Good Samaritans pooled their efforts to heave the mammoth vehicle off the
55-year-old’s legs as he screamed out in agony.

He was “serious but stable” in hospital earlier today following the drama in
Walthamstow, East London.

Witness Bushra Khalid, from East London, said: “We heard the poor man scream

“The skin had been taken off his legs and you could see bone. His dreadlocks
were trapped too and his face was full of agony.

“My husband tried to help. At first there were four men but then others
joined. There must have been at least 50 people all coming together to
actually lift the bus off him.

“It was amazing. A lady who had first aid training was assisting.”

Police said the driver of the 212 service was not arrested in yesterday’s
5.50pm accident.
