MOONPIG has been forced to apologise to furious customers whose Mother’s Day
was blighted when their cards and gifts did not arrive or were damaged.
The greeting card company’s social media channels were inundated with
complaints from people claiming their orders did not meet expectations.
Donna Shiell, from Farnham, Surrey, bought flowers from Moonpig as a surprise
for her mum.
The 34-year-old had hoped her mum would get a knock on the door and be handed
the flowers in person.

Instead she found a ruined bouquet at the bottom of her garden, outside of
their protective wrapping, on Sunday afternoon.
Donna tweeted that she was “absolutely fuming” after the let-down.
She said: “They look awful. They look like they were dumped in the garden
and have been blown around all day and are now looking dead. Some of the
heads are broken.
“They looked so nice in the photo on the website, but honestly I would
have got better flowers from the garage.”
Lewis Clarke tweeted: “The flowers I got mum today from @MoonpigUK where
rubbish, looked nothing like the picture and are basically dead! Right
goooooooood.”
Alison Arnold, from Thetford, Norfolk, was spending her first Mother’s Day
away from son, Jack, who is in his first year at Hull University.
Jack ordered a card for his mother on Tuesday but asked for it to be
dispatched first class on Thursday – so that it would arrive on Friday or
Saturday.
But the card did not arrive in time.
Alison, 43, said: “It was my first Mother’s Day without him being there.
“He knew it was a big deal for me, which was why he ordered the card
early. I’m upset.”
Another Twitter user called Stevie, wrote: “Thanks @MoonpigUK for the LACK of
my mother-in-laws Mother’s Day card. My own mum in Spain got hers (ordered
and sent the same time).”
And Wilf Voss was unimpressed with the quality of his order, saying: “Thanks
for the cr****, shrivelled flowers. not as advertised. I guess I should be
pleased they arrived on time…”
Siobhan Reilly, from Willesden Green, London, ordered two sets of gifts for
her mother from Moonpig – but only one arrived.
Siobhan, 39, said she was told the missing parcel had been delivered to her
mother’s porch.
But she says her mother does not have a porch and the parcel was not outside
her front door.
She added: “They’ve been advertising on TV that they could deliver to the
nation on Mother’s Day. They’ve over-promised and under-delivered.”
Moonpig said there had been “an issue” with a supplier which had
delayed the delivery of flowers to some customers.
The company says 90 per cent of first class deliveries arrive the following
day, but the remaining 10 per cent can arrive up to three days later.
Moonpig had previously claimed on telly ads that gifts ordered by 2pm on March
4 would arrive in time for Mothering Sunday two days later.
Flowers ordered by 4pm on March 5 were also supposed to be delivered in time
for Mother’s Day.
The company apologised and said it had compensated those affected.
A spokesman for Moonpig said: “We can confirm that an issue with one of
our suppliers has delayed the delivery of flowers to some of our customers
this weekend.
“We know how important Mother’s Day is and we have apologised to and
compensated all customers who have experienced a delay.
“We’ve been working hard to put things right and by the end of Mother’s
Day almost all orders have been delivered. We hope our customers accept our
sincere apologies.”
