SHE’S been the shoulder for rocker Jamie Hince to cry on as his marriage to supermodel Kate Moss toppled off the catwalk.
Slim, beautiful and rich, it’s no wonder aristocrat Mary Charteris has fellas under a spell.
But the 28-year-old socialite’s closeness to The Kills guitarist made her a wicked witch in Kate’s eyes, with sources claiming the model is furious her other half spent time with Mary.
There is no suggestion anything untoward has gone on between the pair — she is married to Jamie’s pal, fellow rocker Robbie Furze.
But her gender alone was apparently enough to attract Mossy’s ire.
That and the suggestion he slept on Mary’s sofa when his marriage was falling apart.
Referring snobbily to Britain’s most successful supermodel as “Croydon Kate” can’t have helped develop a girlie bond either.
But who is Mary Charteris?
She’s everything Kate might HATE in a woman. A younger, blonder version of herself who happens to be much posher.
Her star-studded social media feeds include revealing snaps — such as one of her and Robbie in the bath — yet you’re more likely to remember the pictures of her sporting an eye-popping dress on her wedding day in 2012.
She wore a see-through gown designed by Lady Gaga favourite Pam Hogg, whom she’d met at Lily Allen’s 21st birthday party. As you do.
The photographer at the ceremony was Sean Lennon, son of John and Yoko Ono, Florence Welch was the wedding singer and Keira Knightley was just one of the A-list guests.
Lady Mary Olivia Charteris, her full title, is the daughter of the Ukip-supporting Scottish peer James Charteris — the 13th Earl of Wemyss and 9th Earl of March — who donated at least £54,000 to Nigel Farage’s cause.
Her mum, Catherine, once worked for artist Andy Warhol and also has an aristocratic bloodline as the daughter of Jonathan Guinness, the 3rd Baron Moyne.
Mary was barely one when her parents split up but she enjoyed a privileged upbringing in the idyllic setting of Stanway House, Gloucs. The lavish family home was a 17th century manor with a 300ft fountain the key feature in its vast grounds.
She went to London’s exclusive Francis Holland School for girls, an apparent favourite of elite socialites — past pupils include Petra and Tamara Ecclestone, Jemima Khan, Sienna Miller and Emilia Fox.
There, Mary became pals with Poppy Delevingne and her younger sister Cara. They’d go on to be models — but not before Mary.
Like godmother Jerry Hall, she got into modelling early on, spotted aged 15 by Issy Blow — who also discovered Sophie Dahl — and modelled for Louis Vuitton.
But unlike the Delevingnes, Mary didn’t grab attention through her catwalk exploits, instead capturing headlines with that lavish wedding.
Like Kate, she’s dabbled in DJing more recently and, like Kate did with ex Pete Doherty, has started singing with her husband’s band The Big Pink.
Last week she posted a video of herself dancing in nothing but a thong to promote their new album.
Mary’s Instagram feed includes a slew of celebrity friends, including new X Factor judges Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw. In a picture taken backstage at the 02 Arena during Katy Perry’s tour last year, Mary posed with Hollywood starlet Selena Gomez and model pals Cara, Suki Waterhouse and Georgia May Jagger.
Fellow model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was her famous plus-one at Poppy’s bachelorette party in Los Angeles last year. A few weeks later, Mary and Robbie stayed in Sienna’s Winnebago at Glastonbury, also uploading snaps from the festival with Lily.
In classic Kate style, Mary rocked up in a red see-through jumper with just two white stars covering her nipples.
Almost inevitably, Mary and Kate crossed paths, with the relationship perfectly amicable until relatively recently.
Mary said Croydon-born Kate would be the person in her phonebook she would turn to for fashion advice. They share a similar habit of being seen a lot but publicly saying very little.
Mixing in similar social circles, the now warring pair attended many of the same functions until things got frosty at a bash two years ago
There, each accused the other of flirting with their husband, and things erupted when Kate pushed a fully-dressed Mary into a swimming pool, enraged by her continued presence at Jamie’s side.
A friend told The Sun last week that the row “was really awful” and added: “All Mary had done is talk to Jamie like she always does. But Kate couldn’t cope.” Jamie’s decision to turn to her bitter rival will only antagonise Kate further.
He kept almost constant company with Mary at Glastonbury last month.
The Earl’s daughter clung to Jamie for much of the festival and they were pictured sharing a ride in a golf cart.
Despite that, Mary remains hugely popular with Kate’s social set and she and Robbie have welcomed Jamie into their rented London party pad.
Most of Kate’s mates, meanwhile, are on his side of the split and urging her to compromise and spend more time with him in the US — something she hasn’t been willing to do.
