Former England defender Ashley Cole is on less than £4,000-a-week at LA Galaxy

Cashley famously 'almost crashed car' after £55,000-a-week Arsenal offer

ASHLEY COLE earns less than £4,000-a-week at LA Galaxy.

And even worse for the famously money-obsessed left-back, he makes the least
of the club’s latest marquee signings.

The ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star was memorably left “trembling with anger”
after being offered £55,000-a-week by the Gunners in 2006.

At the peak of his career he was earning £120,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge.

Steven Gerrard in MLS.

The LA Times report that Cole’s not on mega money because Galaxy have already
signed three designated players – Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Giovani
dos Santos – on large salaries.

Former Man City midfielder Nigel de Jong and ex-Southampton and Wolves star
Jelle Van Damme both joined for a wage of nearly £7,000-a-week.

Cole will make around £3,966-a-week.

But the club’s coach and general manager Bruce Arena admitted the cost-saving
buys took some negotiating.

He said: “That took a little political work to make that happen.

“Whenever we do anything, everyone in the league is there giving their
opinion whether we can do it or not.”
