One club-man Francesco Totti set to snub Premier League and Leicester in favour of move to MLS side New York Cosmos as he calls time on 24-years at Roma

Italian World Cup winner fancies move to USA over England

FRANCESCO TOTTI is set to snub Leicester
and make a sensational switch to MLS side New York Cosmos.

The Italian has spent his entire 24-year career with his boyhood club, Roma —
but a recent spat with manager Luciano Spalletti spelt the end of the
veteran midfielder.

However, it appears the 39-year-old is favouring a move to the MLS.

Totti
is second on Serie A’s all-time top goalscorers list, having netted 245
times from 569 appearances since making his debut in 1993.

And his total number of games is only bettered by Paolo Maldini and Javier
Zanetti.

The highlight of Totti’s club career was his sole Scudetto in 2001, when he
played under manager Fabio Capello and alongside Vincenzo Montella and
Gabriel Batistuta in attack.

And, five years later, he scored a last-minute winner against Australia in the
last-16 as Italy claimed World Cup glory in Germany.

Totti has been involved in numerous clashes with boss Spalletti in recent
times — the most recent of which was on Sunday after Roma’s draw Atalanta.

The
Giallorossi idol netted a dramatic equaliser to make the score 3-3
.

But post-match a heated confrontation with Spalletti in the changing room
after he accused Totti of “playing cards” instead of focusing on football
for most of the season seems to have been the final straw.
