IT was an emotional evening for NATHAN SYKES yesterday at his first ever
Bizarre gig.
The former WANTED singer had his five-year-old cousin Jessica, who
sadly has cancer, watching proudly at the side of the stage at the Brooklyn
Bowl at London’s O2.
After a tough few years for Nathan and his family, getting them all together,
along with Jess, to watch his performance meant the world.
Even better, all the profits raised from the show are going to Sheffield
charity Pact, which has been helping Jess through her battle.
Speaking backstage after his set, Nathan said: “It’s just so nice that they
can be here and see what’s happened and to make so much money for an
incredible charity that has helped them out so much.
“It is just about to get quite busy for them again up at Sheffield Hospital so
they have made a weekend of it. For Jess’s mum Kerry it is difficult as they
spend so much time in the hospital and have been for the last two to three
years now, so it’s nice for her to be able to get out and watch the show
too.”
Nathan – who plays Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park on July
¿9 – showed off his phenomenal vocals in a stripped-back seven-song set,
including new single Give It Up and covers of ED SHEERAN and SHAWN
MENDES.
Afterwards he took part in a Q&A where two lucky fans, Molly and Sarah,
got to quiz him on stage.
And the girls’ top-class journalism got him to reveal that he is unlikely to
record another duet with former girlfriend ARIANA GRANDE.

But the star of the show was Jess, who got a big hug at the end.
Luckily, she gave him a great review too.
Nathan added: “All the way through the gig Jess was sticking her tongue out at
me.
“It is just so nice that she could be there side of stage and then when I went
over to see her after I said, ‘Did you enjoy that?’ She said, ‘Yeah I
thought you were . . . good.’
“She is so brutally honest. If she thought I was rubbish she would turn around
and say, ‘Nah, I didn’t like it’.”
It’s five stars from me too.
